1 The Client-Side Conversion Pipeline
Unlike traditional services that ship your photos across the internet to remote Python or OpenCV servers, Coloring SVG runs our entire mathematical pipeline locally on your computer or phone using typed arrays and Web Workers.
1. Smart Downscale & Grayscale
Large smartphone photos are downsampled to a balanced working resolution and converted to Rec. 709 luminance values.
2. Extended Difference of Gaussians (XDoG)
Instead of crude thresholding that creates black blotches, XDoG subtracts dual Gaussian blurs to extract organic, comic-style contour lines.
3. Morphological Dilation & Despeckling
Lines are thickened according to your preference (thin, medium, thick), and tiny stray dust speckles are eliminated via connected-component analysis.
4. Contour Tracing & Curve Fitting
Pixel grid boundaries are vectorized into simplified polylines and fitted with smooth cubic Bézier curves (C cp1 cp2 x y).

Traditional raster images (like JPG and PNG) store visual information as a grid of colored pixels. When you zoom in or print a raster image onto paper, pixels are stretched, creating fuzzy, blurry, or staircase-like jagged edges.
